Kale or borecole (boerenkool) is a vegetable of the plant species Brassica oleracea with green or purple leaves, in which the central leaves do not form a head. It is considered to be closer to wild cabbage than most domesticated forms of vegetables.[1]The caterpillar of the small white, or small white cabbage butterfly, Pieris rapae is one of the best-known pests of this plant.
